Hmm...obviously, there is plenty about this site that I enjoy, or I wouldn't be here. By the same token, I've offered plenty of suggestions to the site's webmaster, and often my emails go unanswered. So, I thought we might share a few of our opinions and constructive criticisms here, out in the open:

As far as battles, there should be a time limit to accept, and once the battle has started, neither side should be able to receive votes unless both sides have produced a set number of words. There should be a time limit on battles, as well, and they should rotate. The older ones should come forward to encourage voting and completion. If the time for the battle is up, and either side has at least half of the votes, the higher number wins.

For example, if one side does all the arguing, and their opponent has accepted, but fails to submit an opposing argument...no voting should take place, and the battle should time out. It's unfortunate when people agree to battle, and then fail to step up to the plate, but how can a debater win a battle when there was none? In regards to the debater who has participated...they have basically argued with themselves, or simply stated their point of view...but they have not "won." Perhaps, as a penalty to the debater who has failed to submit the minimum number of words...they should lose ten points, or twenty convinces, if it was to be their first battle...and I suppose they could be in the negative too.

I also think that a comment supporting a debater's vote in an ensuing battle should be mandatory for their vote to be cast. This should hold debaters more accountable for their votes, and discourage votes being cast based on favoritism and/or partiality towards a position, without reading arguments from both sides, and voting according to which debater has argued their position the best.

I know you have plenty of good ideas, Rebirth...why don't you take this opportunity to share them publicly.

Are you kidding me?????!!!!?!

Just so your socialist conscience feels better, I haven't made ONE penny off of this website. Those ads go to an app I made on Facebook, which doesn't work anymore, which obviously means I must really care about making money off of this site.

I built this site because I love debate and debating. Feel free to build your own website.

"got him out of his cave" oh I'm sure he'll jump straight into action now.

"feel free to shake the cobwebs off and fix this place off" are you going to let him do it as a favour to you Rebirth?

Fair enough. I'm just unconvinced that the approach taken in 'this' debate is the right one.

Some people fight for points like they are made of gold. I see some of the convinces and it seems like they are put there in some sort of popularity contest for statements that aren't that convincing. I put convinces down when somebody makes a good point. Sometimes in the battles I don't really have that much to say but I always put down something that I voted. The only thing that really bugs me is looking at a battle where one or both sides don't have much to say and there are votes there already. I know everybody sees that but unless your name shows up as soon as you click a vote I don't really think there is too much that can be done. At least that way you can see that people vote for their friends more than a side but we already know that. Just look at some of the battles. One or two points and nothing after that. Maybe the idea of having a debate just expire is a good one so we dont have to go searching for good ongoing ones. Something like if there are no points made in a week or whatever then it just disappears.

Brett...please consider making improvements. During the hiatus, we were under the impression that improvements were being made. I wish I could see them. When CM was back up and running, everything looked the same. As I had mentioned in an email, if improvements WERE made, please enlighten us. I do appreciate all that you have done, and we certainly have had a ton of enjoyment here, and all because of you! :) So, thank you, once again. :)

I have already said this, but maybe I should include it here. I would like to be able to block other subscribers, since NotReallySure and Christine (same person) was stalking Accipiter and I for quite a long period of time...after we had both made it very clear, in numerous emails...that she should stay away.

Note: If you need proof of any of the emails, or the duplicate aliases, I have it...just let me know. (Also, a Sent box would be helpful.)

Please eliminate multiple aliases!!! The site is chock full of them!!! What the heck is the point in battling someone, when you are battling someone who can vote for themselves ten times? This is one of the main reasons why rank means nothing!

Also...just as you are able to "watch" debates, you should also be able to "watch" battles. This would help to precipitate their completion.

I joined this website in March of 2007. I've been inactive for the better part of the last 2 years and now i come back. In 4 years and 6 months of my knowledge of this debating website i've yet to see any improvements. Aside from a generously white background (i believe there was much more black in the early days), can you name any useful changes?

This place is exactly the same as i left it and its a real shame because it could have been so much better.
