First of all, religion cant control who we choose to be with since people wouldnt let religious inscriptions of how people who believe in different things would be inferior to one another prior to the contras inflicted on the practices and teachings they both follow . i dont see the barrier in a christian dating a non-christian unless ofcourse the non-christian partner openely shows hatred and disrespect towards the partner's religion

I could see how some Christians who take the bible entirely literally would have an issue with it as part of it says to "not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?” Or that since Jesus is not "the centre of their life" they wont understand you.

But in all Honestly this just seems like shallow advice, Hows the break up going to go?

“Honey I love everything about you... except you don’t share my beliefs... I know it seems somewhat shallow to want you to change even though your respectful and understanding of my beliefs and love me. You are a wonderful person but.. well I’m light and your darkness the two just don’t mix...”

If you love someone but choose not to be with them because they don’t share your beliefs is comparable to not wanting to marry a liberal woman because you're a conservative man. If your excuse is that They won’t understand you its probably because of a failed communication on your part. If you say you risk Divorce its a poor stance because there is just as great a likelihood that two believes will get a divorce opposed to one who believes and one who does not.

And since when do un-believers = lawlessness and darkness. I know some awesome Christians and some really awful ones. I know some Awesome non-christians and some real awful ones. A good person does not need to be a Christian, they could be, just like some very twisted bad people could be christians as well.

And in reality there are couples who do very well, love each-other, understand each-other, etc who do not share the same religion. Fact - People are different if you only love then for their similarities your a shallow person weather you realize it or not.

Right or wrong only matters if you are one of the two people involved. Being a Christian does not give anyone the right to pass judgment, unless your name is GOD.

And how do you explain the couples who do hole different religious values and beliefs and the kid turns out fine? Just because some parents are crap doesn’t mean all are. Hell with your overgeneralizing logic I could say that Christian families are screwed because parents don’t talk enough about sex and the kids get knocked up early.

I know many couples who hold different religious Beliefs; Christian, Judaism, Buddhism, Sikh, Hindu, And Atheist And the Kids grow up fine, with a greater knowledge of different views. Why? because the Parents can pull it off if they are well rounded individuals

Of course. My girlfriend is Catholic and I'm not religious (I refuse to call myself atheist), and we've been happily dating for three years.

i think this is one of the dumbest arguments ever....nothing is wrong about going out on a date with someone with diffrent belifs and values. i mean it would actually give you something to talk about if worse came to worst.

I am a Christian, and I feel like you have to be very careful where you tread with this issue. It may be alright to date a non-Christian, but you need to know their attitudes regarding your faith before you invest very much into the relationship. Are they going to be respectful of your faith, allow you to go to church without criticism, and make you feel as though it's okay that you are Christian? Or are they going to antagonize you, belittle you, and disrespect your religion? If you're dating a non-Christian who will support you, then yes, I think you will be okay. You could even take them to church with you and attempt to convert them, if they were willing to listen and give you the chance. However, if you are with someone who isn't going to allow you to practice your religion without being rude and offensive towards you and your beliefs, then you need to dump that person because they aren't going to be healthy for you or your spiritual walk.

If its your soul mate and you love him/her, then of course you should date the non-Christian. However, a Christians duty is to try and lead others to God, so should the Christian try and at least lead the non-Christian to believe his/her own faith? I think so. By the way, this I don't debate with my own opinion on subjects like this, I am debating on facts from the Bible. A Christians obligation to God isn't just to sit there and be a Christian, it is to help lead others to Christ and spread the world of his name.

Yah all that's easy to say until they get married and then they fight every night and there's screaming and slamming of doors and crying and guess who pays for it.........their kid, who's exposed to all of it and confused about what to believe and it in between to people that are always fighting.
