The problem with this "debate" scenario that even within each faith, Chrisitianity and Islam there is no agreement.

Understand that I do not know Islam as much as Christianity. I just know that muslims are usually more dedicated and disciplined when it comes to their religion but that is based on muslims that I know. I am definitely not an expert in muslim religion but would like to know more as would most anyone with a lack of inherent knowledge. It saddens me that Christianity and Islam are both used by extremists in a distorted way to proliferate hate and murder. I mean honestly Timothy McVeigh and the KKK are not much different than muslim suicide bombers. So, I think that if those of us who are within these two religions share and create a link, then we can prevent our respective religions from being misinterpreted and misused for their own personal and devious purposes.

I'd like to think that in the distant future, new religions will ultimate merge that feature moderate (or otherwise watered-down) values from all of those faiths. And dinosaurs.

That's a great idea! However, when you get into the one is better than the other and the other is wrong because of this, then you lose people because they are beliefs and you don't want to lose any participants simply because their beliefs don't match your own. However, it would be great if the comparisons are made. I enjoyed learning how the prophets from both religions were killed by jews but by very different means, which kind of indicates why each religion went off in their own specific direction. Muslims tend to be more rigid and disciplined versus christians who are less rigid and seemingly more forgiving. However, I guess that is up for debate as well. lol

I found a great source of debates on videos between a Muslim scholar and many Christian scholars. Enjoy it http://english.truthway.tv/

debate will expose both extremes ( good and bad ) .. in maybe exaggerated form ... where as presentation tends to be more on positive sides ....

It would be much more beneficial to watch a debate between Christians and Muslims because you see both sides and learn both of the religions instead of just one. You also begin to see the highlights and the big problem with each religion and how the other argues it and how it defends itself. Just a single religion saying what it is does nothing but teach you what they believe. No questions are answered about the holes in the religion and no argument against it is shown except the one in your head which is not being answered. Debates are much more beneficial to watch then presentations.

A presentation or a lecture about Islam is a good peaceful way to learn about the religion.

I dont understand what the debate would be about or how it would be at all productive. I'd love to learn more about Islam though...

Just as Islam is an extension of Christianity, so is Chrisitianity and extendion of Judaism so any presentation of Islam and Christianity must inluce Judaism to cover the entire spectrum

i like your ideas , your sentence about Islam attract me . you mentioned that Islam is more rigid and has strict discipline . this is your point of view and I personally respect it in fact l willI appreciate if you gave me one of strict discipline of Islam . However . I am a Mslim and I am extremely happy with it . I don’t find any rigid rules in my religion . Because Islam have prohibit everything which is bad and have serious effects on the health and scientistis have proved that .
anyway . i want to tell anyone about Islam in briefly

Islam is a religion of mercy and love, creativity and fraternity, and respect other religions and people of the book the first of whom
The best blessing from God that I am Muslim

I think a less confrontational approach is preferable. I certainly look forward to the CNN report of Islam presentation in schools compared to the Fox news report of Islam being forced down our childrens throats.
