LOL when I read the title, I thought you meant Harry Potter. I have no idea why... :P

Anyways, he could be a bastard by the real definition...
but well she said it happened to her a lot, so she should know what that place is about and shouldn't be too disappointed.

If you're going to a bar, get drunk, and have sex with someone you've known for less than four hours, you're not going anywhere in a relationship. If you're going to a bar and you don't want to be taken advantage of, don't get drunk. Sure, let a guy buy you a drink, but don't get completely wasted. Men are ruled in part by hormones, and our hormones skyrocket under certain circumstances, e.g. alcohol, hot women, darkness, etc. Love and commitment are driven by different occurrences. Going to a bar to find a lasting relationship is a bad idea.

I think he is a manipulative bastard in some way. Men will use women for sex no matter where they meet each other. It could be in a club, party, bar, online, at church, etc.

While the bar or party is not the best place to meet someone for a potential relationship, it doesn't disqualify all people just because such places have a high tendency to be known as "hookups."

People will treat people badly and manipulatively no matter where you meet them. At bars, it's difficult to even hear yourself think sometimes so if both "parties" are dressed in their best and are making small talk barely audible, while pounding down the liquor, it's safe to say that SOMEONE will get hurt come morning

It depends on whose judgement. Do you think bastards are the kind of people who only want sex or those who did actual harm? It's all in the subjectivity of judgement.

if a women is going to have sex with a man the first night she met him it is not going to be a lasting relationship. harry probably wanted to have sex and found someone to have sex with. it is her fault for thinking that he cared so much when he really only carred about sex

Assuming that he never mentioned relationships and made no promise to cll her, then fair enough. Although it would be a little nicer to explain to the poor girl that a one night stand is all she's getting.
