I'm not saying we should just wait for him to fail so we can pull out our effigies and lighter fluid... but shouldn't we wait for him to do something monumental BESIDES happening to be of African descent?

I like those last two lines. Well-said.

Still, Obama is as good a name as "Trig".

Cynicism can be a healthy thing; especially when directed at politicians/government. To me Democrats are just better actors than Republicans.

For instance, Obama is now admonishing AIG for the 165 million in bonuses. This would appear to be refreshing seeing as the last administration would never have even attempted to criticize big business. But in reality this is an act.

These bonuses are the fault of Obama and company. They said they were going to put a cap on executive pay and they did not. It would be like putting a steak in front of a dog and then getting mad when he ate it.

One of the most pertinent problems in our country is the economy. And Obama has some of the very same people who helped destroy our economy on his economic team. Tim Geithner, Larry Summers and Robert Rubin.

Our country needs to take a radically different direction and Obama represents small change. He is there to serve the elite. I am glad there will be some positive changes in terms of a slight softening in diplomatic relations and handling of the war in Iraq but in the end he is there, just like 95% of all politicians, to serve themselves and the powerful elite.

Just like the Hyena shivered in the lion king because of Mufasa, I shiver when I hear Obama, I fear that my money is not safe whilst a Liberal remains in office *gulp*

Yes!!!

It is sickening the number of people who will scream, shout, and holler (in joy or something similar) when Mr.Obama is mentioned. He has done very little so far (everything he has done so far I disagreed with), and NOTHING has improved. I am not arguing here to bash him (I do that elsewhere :P ), but am only trying to say that he has accomplished nothing so far. I guess you could say he has released terrorists, increased our debt exponentially, etc., but what does that help? I can understand if he does something great (in the future), but simply being biracial is no accomplishment.

Oh yea there is some school named after him. Sickening.

P.S.-----There is an offspring of this site at gradeobama.com that is dedicated to this kind of stuff.

I think its a great thing that a Black man is in Office. It speaks a lot about how far racism has come in such a short time and people have the right to be mega-excited about Barry being the President. With that said, the dude already has schools named after him! He's been in office for 3 months and he's done a below average job IMO and in the opinion of the people (see Obama polls). I think its getting a bit out of hand, wait until the guy saves the world before you call him the world's saviour.

Bush was a bastard. but Obama is so in love with his own charisma that he has blinded himself to see the real issue. What has Obama realy done, lets see:

He had no opinion when Israel was attacked by Gaza.

He threw together a ridiculous bailout (excuse me... "Stimulus package") the size of a bible which promised no earmarks or pork spending.

He later said that he was sorry that "the package wasn't as airtight as I had originally intended" and "we had inherited a great debt".

He bought up all the "toxic assets" which is being paid for by printing trillions of dollars (and we wonder why things are getting more expensive).

On the good side Barrack Obama went on Leno Ensuring the American people that he is working on his bowling skills and that white house has a lovely new garden, courtesy of the twenty percent of your paycheck.

Nah, you're being cynical on this one. I'd rather people were indulging in hope and optimism (perhaps a little overzealously) than the alternative. I get a unique view of this administration from my seat, and frankly, the future does look promising...so why the hell can't we praise a politician for once, instead of stringing him/her up as the source of all evil?

For me, it's not a "race" thing. It's a "Holy sh*t, the Democrats actually control the House and Senate" thing.

It's a little like Christmas dinner.

I'm in a good mood simply because I took a glance at what the administration has in the oven. When the food comes to the plate, hopefully a lot of us will have our own reasons to be happy. Other still are just content that the family is all together for under one-roof. Except, wait, what's that smell....? Oh sh*t, the tree is on fire! Put it out! PUT IT OUT! GET A FUCKING BUCKET YOU IDIOT!! AH FUCK, IT'S SPREAD TO THE CARPET!!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN'T FIND THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER? IT'S IN THE CLOSET! THE OTHER CLOSET! THE COAT-CLOSET!!! Oh man this is bad... EMPTY? HOW CAN IT BE EMPTY? WHO USED IT???

I do worry about setting expectations too high. But after the crushing dread and despair that followed the previous two elections, I think that a little optimism and banner-waving is the birthright of every living soul on this planet. Forget the race issue: the other one's gone!

What's going on is that the United States has a Persident they can be proud of after a very long wait. If you talk to most Americans they don't think he's a god. They simply think he's exactly who they want to run the country right now. To use an old term; People are cautiously optimistic.

I'm a total fence sitter on this one. I stopped being an Obama fan the moment he actually got into office.

Part of the problem is that there is plenty that he can do right straight out of the gate, and he's been doing it. He's reversed the most ludicrous of Bush's executive orders and he's still not done yet. He's opened his administration with a transparency that would have horrified Cheney.

But these are low-hanging fruit, and there's a lot of work to do. He sure seems to be heading the right way, but there is still plenty of time for him to get off track. I don't care how well-thinking he is, he's only human.

The bottom line is that unbridled enthusiasm is just as bad for the good guys as it is for the bad guys. If he starts to lose track of what he's doing, he'll need people who are willing to speak up and criticize him. I just hope that he can still hear it over the din of those who are just upset because he's spoiling their fun.

Well if you're going to be a pastor, or a soldier for that matter, you wont be making enough to worry about Barry taking it from you.

Private citizens naming their business for Obama here or in your socialist country of Canada is one thing, people all over their world naming their babies after Obama or Michelle is another. But that is not everything and that is not government naming places for Obama. Don't you worry about us the good old US of A. Your country has it own problems

But not from you. Barry has promised that he wont mess around with the middle class and the salaries from being a pastor and/or a soldier put you well in the middle.
