It's about time Hollywood makes their movies more scientifically believable

I suppose a floating-point error in an out-of-date hockey stick chart can be called "real information"...

While I'm not usually a stickler for such things, but sometimes a poor film can really make a more lasting impression on an audience than reality. It's all really a question of the intent of the film.

As an aside, I may have yelled "What the f**k?" on Spiderman 2 around the point when Doctor Octopus says "Precious tritium....only twenty-five pounds in the world..."

This is one of my pet peeves. Nothing ruins a movie for me than noticing innaccurcies that jar me out of my suspension of disbelief.

Now if we can ditch the historical innaccurcies in Mel Gibson movies and place a disclaimer at the start of Hackers we might be able to prevent a whole generation of gullibles being poorly educated by Hollywood.

the can we post a discxlaimer on An Inconvieniant Truth as well saying the information you may find in this movie is based on real information, BUT has been subjected and twisted to fit the directors agenda and parts of the film are indeed fictional.

I think it's hilarious what Hollywood people think they can pass off as realistic.

I love going to the movies with my dad and pointing out all the obnoxiously unrealistic parts.

I'm sure the Sci-fi movies will still get their few "tooth-fairies" (like the "force;" or "warp" speed, etc.), but overall, more believability will not only be good, but create an accountability for how much liberty might be taken with reality.

One wonders, though, will this affect how actors are cast. Because in movies couples are always connecting even though I'm relatively sure it's scientifically impossible.

Ive always thought that was the sine of good scientists
if hollywood put it out there, that a certain story line was science, then 50 or so years later the scientists make it reality

This will mark the end of entertainment/fantasy movies, they'll be like documents

The point of watching a fictional or science fiction movie is to be entertained through "fiction". People who watch these movies do it to have a little escape from reality and let their imaginations run wild. If we were to nitpick at these films and make them correct in terms of how the real world sees fit they would no longer be fiction. If people really have a problem with these films why not go watch a documentary? Taking away the fiction is taking away a person's imagination. Besides most great inventions today were nothing more than "fiction" years ago.
