Should Catholic priests be pyschologically tested for sexual urges including homosexuality?

Priests to face 'sex drive tests'
The Roman Catholic Church has issued guidance for future priests to have psychological tests to weed out those unable to control their sexual urges.

A senior churchman said a series of sex scandals had contributed to the rewriting of the gui...

Because of the forced unnatural vow of celibacy's effects on men and women, precautions need to be taken and should include pyschological testing. The best solution is of course the removal of celibacy which came about several hundred years after the church was founded because of one former fornicator turned pope who wanted to end sex for himself, and everybody else

Most cops are physcologally unfit to be police because they became police for the wrong reason

Not unless there is sufficient cause. It should work the same way that searching vehicles works for cops.

No police officer can make Joe Sixpack open his trunk [legally]. They need to go to a judge or an official and explain to that person that they have enough genuine suspicion about Mr. Sixpack that warrants a look inside his trunk.

Unless there is enough genuine suspicion about a priest that he is a sexual offender then they shouldnt be subject to a test like this.

I'm not sticking up for any of the monsters that molested children but most priests dont have those urges and shouldnt be forced to take such a privacy stomping test like that.

Hey, look--the Catholic Church had taken a giant leap forward...and into the 15th century.

Rescind the "vow of celibacy" (which is lunacy), and allow the people in the ministry (nuns and priests) to legally marry. THEN, the sexual predators just might stick out a little more. As for homosexuals, I am not sure that testing would "out" anyone. Right now the predators hide amongst the crowd and are a little difficult to spot. Marriage has not hurt the ministries of preachers, missionaries found in other denominations, so I fail to see how it would hurt priests and nuns. The job description remains the same for all except for the celibacy.
Plus, why is it fair to test one area of employment, when predators are found in every other area of employment as well? You cannot seek out and place testing restrictions on only one group of people. Exactly who would conduct all of these tests anyways?

Hey, sexual urges will always exist. And it's not just in the catholic priests.

If you really want to ensure that catholic priests don't cause too much problems, castrate them. Then, you will begin hearing other child rape cases by other professions.

This is a wonderful idea, they should all be tested for these sexual perversions. It could all be conducted and enforced by a new type of police officer... the thought police. Yeah that's it. We need thought police to ensure that individuals are prevented from doing something based on the fact that someone might possibly at some undetermined point in the future do something that is not a social norm. Let us just forget the fact that an individual also might not do that same action. Better yet, I know how to solve the problem in general... let's outlaw emotions; then we won't have to deal with the problems caused by fear, anger and jealousy. We will only have to sacrifice love, passion, and joy in order to attain this goal.

It is a good thing that we still (if only ideally) are innocent until proven guilty, where we cannot be charged for a crime that has not even taken place yet. If we have to take risks in this world to maintain some semblance of humanity and freedom then so be it.

What?
test the priests for actually being human!
Again, the church puts priests up on a pedestal as if they are better than human, have no feelings, wants or needs. And even if they are homosexuals, did God not create them too. I do not think it's any of the churches business what their sexual preference is. Their roles as priests do not require them to be straight or otherwise.
