I would say that it makes sense for India to go ahead with the deal for their own good. However, I would suggets that those opposed to the deal (the left leaning parties of India) are concious of more than just Indias national requirements and are taking into account the global consequences.

This deal places the second fasted growing economy in the world under the guidance of a country that has recently made some poor choices in administration and foreign policy.
