I think you are right.

And as for that baguette - that is WHY we must hold police officers, while on the job OR off duty, to a higher standard of behaviour than the rest of us. They ARE the face of authority that se see...so they must keep it clean.

Of course, some people may argue that baguette is white bread, and that is bad for you, and that by not letting you eat it, the cop was just FORCING you to do what is GOOD for you ..... SORRY, that was a different debate!

Riots are NEVER justified.

There are other ways.

A sovereign state cannot exist while there are areas within it that are (legally or practically) a police-no-go zones. Police are our friends - whom we rely on to keep civilization civilized. (That is why we MUST hold them up to a higher standard of conduct than other citizens.)

But, like it or not, Police are the 'peacekeepers' in our society, and a symbol of the state. A physical attack upon the police is an attack on the society and an attack on the state.

Forbidding the police entry into a neigbourhood is an act of sedition. It cannot be tolerated.

I think you cross a moral line when you shoot at a cop, unless you're 100% sure that it's the exact same cop who stole your baguette. Maybe even then....
