They have the best record and the best team. They've struggled through the playoffs formerly, but now have the experience needed to go all the way.

Daniel Alfredsson is arguably the best captain in the league, on and off the ice. Dany Heatley is on his way to his third consecutive 50-goal season, and Jason Spezza is looking at 100 points again. Spezza's groin-pull has left him out of the last few games, but this was done as a mere precaution, ensuring his full health upon return mid-November.

Martin Gerber has been outstanding in goal (10 wins 1 loss in 11 games, 1.80 GGA, and .941 SV%), and looks like he'll be taking his job back from Ray Emery, who is either a great back-up or could free up some salary cap room for a late-season addition.

The Senators have SIX candidates for the all-star game (Alfredsson, Heatley, Spezza, Phillips, Redden, Emery), and centers Antoine Vermette and Mike Fisher each have 10+ points as well.

The BRUINS? Come on! Ok - I'll concede that Tim Thomas is doing great in nets, but what happened to Manny Fernandez, and the rest of the Bruins' defense?

Boston's record right now is just over .500 - Ottawa is 13 and 2 for a record of .866

Boston's top three point-earners (Savard, Sturm, Kessel) combine for 35 points - Ottawa's top three (Alfredsson, Heatley, Spezza) have combines for 51. Incidentally, Spezza's missed 5 games!

Boston would have had a great year if it wasn't for Zhamnov's injury in September. Regardless, they certainly aren't going to win the cup, and probably won't even make the playoffs.

It's the Sens - they're going all the way this year!

Since its OBVIOUSLY not going to be my dear sweet Maple Leafs... I'm hoping that a Canadian team will take it home.

All these teams below the Mason-Dixie line make me sad, an old friend was in Tampa when the Lightning won and apparently the only celebration was over the Pirates. T_T

not true. We love our Lightning!!!! In fact we are devastated that we are losing one of our best guys for the season for surgery. We love and support ALL of our teams, whether they are winning or losing, because they live in the community and are our neighbors! Of COURSE, winning is ALWAYS better, but it doesn't always happen.

I forgot to mention that the Sabres went on an insane streak last year and had the best record, but it didn't secure them the cup.

It has been said that this is the year (07'-08') that all Boston teams are going to prevail championships for all the major 4 sports! The Red Sox won the World Series, the Patriots are undefeated at 9-0. The Bruins are off to a much better start than last season. And the Celtics are thought to be a solid team as well.

Go Boston!

I dunno the Bruins (though I admittedly like the team) never do that well at hockey, compared to many other teams they're quite slow and without Thornton it'll be an uphill battle.
