Yes but not by the schools. A college player is compensated by his school in the form of scholarships, experience, and a platform on which to advertise their abilities. However, in instances such as EA sport's NCAA games, players should absolutely be compensated for the use of their likenesses. It is ethically wrong to profit from someone without providing them with a satisfactory compensation.
