Men and women are not born with skills that differentiate them from each other. Women don't come out of the womb with the genetics to become good cooks and caretakers.

Tearing down gender stereotypes does not mean eradicating gender itself. That's like saying tearing down racial stereotypes takes away race. It doesn't make any sense.

Tearing down gender stereotypes just allows people to be different without being prejudiced and discriminated by others. In a non-prejudiced society a man could wear a skirt without being prejudiced as gay and a woman could be the dominant figure in the family without discrimination.

"Women are not equal to men."

What does this statement even mean? Women are not equal to men? Of course they aren't. I might be a man and my dad is a man but we aren't equals either. However, both men and women have equal potential. Equal potential to be whatever they want to be. That isn't just for men and women, but every person who has lived, lives, and will live.

Treating women as equals means treating them as individuals with equal potential as men. Treating them with the acknowledgement that they can pursue things traditionally performed by men and be able to grow, learn, and be as good as men in their workplace.

Before we debate this, I want to make sure our definitions of equal are similar. I do not mean that they should be treated as the same, but with equal rights. Please clarify which one you mean.

Women and men can be similar, but that goes from person to person. Stereotypes do not equal reality, and what sets you apart is what does not define your gender.

As a feminist, I still do not want to be treated "like a man." I do wish for equal rights to all genders, but there is no good reason to need to act like a man to be viewed as equal.

Men and women aren't as different as the media makes it seem....it's just society that makes it appear that way.

"No man would wash laundry for a living."

This is an assumption, and one based on gender stereotypes to boot.

Women are not equal to men.

Women and men have many different skills that set them apart in the house, the workplace, and in society as a whole.

Unless you tear down every single female/male stereotype and essentially create an asexual species, women will never be equal to men.

You can attempt to treat one as such, but it may be awkward in this widely misogynistic society.

I don't do laundry. Even when I was a single male, I had laundry sent out. I guess women did it, no man would wash laundry for a living.
